Altra's TV app module turns your TV screens into dynamic communication hubs for residents, families and guests. From activity calendars and menus to general notices and announcements, everything is kept up to date automatically, no hardware or daily slide edits required.
You can link as many TVs as you'd like with Altra's TV app option in your service and display custom slideshows on each TV. This allows you to personalise a slideshow for residents in their own rooms, while having general information available in common areas.
Create a slideshow
The first step to create a slideshow and define the content that you want to display.
Add slides and for each of them define your content type between:
Activity calendar or Menu: define how many days you want to display (e.g. today's events or meals, next 3 days or the full week).
Now & Next: This allows you to display the next two events for both activity calendar and menu.
Post or New post: select an existing post or create a new one.
Image: If you've created posters on Canva that you'd like to display, you can use the "image" option to display it.
Custom slide: you can select a custom slide that you previously created with our slide builder module (see below for more information).
Family post: you can select a resident to display the messages sent by his family
For each slide, you can set the order and the time it should display on screen. You can also select "display until" option (e.g. display this notice about a family event we're hosting this week until Sunday at 2pm. This slide will then stop playing after this date and time).
Once you're done, click on Create Slideshow at the bottom and your slideshow is ready to be displayed on any smart TV!
Link a TV
On your Google TV-enabled smart TV (native or with a Google ChromeCast, Firestick or other device):
Start your your TV and make sure it's connected to internet (wifi or cable)
Go to the Play Store, look for "Altra TV" and install the app. When you open the App on the TV you will see a QR code.
From your smartphone, open up the Altra Family app and go to the Settings:
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the TV app settings and click on Scan QR code:
Scan the QR code then you'll be able to name the TV, apply a slideshow and save it.
Now every time you open the Altra TV app on the TV, the slideshow will start automatically. You can change the slideshow anytime from Web or the mobile app by clicking on "Recently connected tvs".

You can use our Canva-style editor to create customised slides. Once you save it, you'll be able to add it to a Slideshow.
